On October 24, 2024, the expansion of the surgical block of the Mataró Hospital was inaugurated, an action that will improve health care in the Maresme, increasing the number of interventions, reducing waiting lists and improving the operating efficiency of the surgical area and emergency interventions.

The inauguration was attended by several authorities, among others, the Minister of Health, Olga Pané, the mayor of Mataró, David Bote and the Government representative, Pilar Díaz.

The works, promoted by the Catalan Health Service and managed by Infraestructures.cat, began in 2021 and have been carried out in several phases, given the added difficulty of carrying out the actions with the Hospital in full operation.

The project and construction management are from Albert Vitaller Arquitectura- Casa Solo Arquitectos UTE and the Quantity Surveyor was awarded to PEPE, with the technicians Enric Peña y Ramon Sellarès.

With these works, the Mataró Hospital incorporates two new high-tech operating theatres. The expansion of the surgical block has also made possible the construction of a new Walk-in Surgery Unit (UCSI) and a new resuscitation and pre-anesthesia room.
